BREAKING: Floyd the Lizard Gone Missing: A Search for a Beloved Pet

by Julia Weber

As many of you already know, Floyd, the bearded dragon located in the science building, has been Mr. McHugh’s and the school’s beloved pet for many years. However, tragedy struck this week when Mr. McHugh noticed that Floyd was not in his tank when he went to feed him. Mr. McHugh was too distraught to provide a comment, but the other science teachers expressed their concerns, saying that they’ve never seen someone so upset over a reptile. Somber students and science teachers alike have been in low spirits since Floyd’s disappearance, but nonetheless, the search continues. A group of students devoted to finding Floyd were appointed by Mr. McHugh, and they call themselves the Floyd Recovery Force. This group has 10 of the best, most clever animal-loving and crime-solving students, and they have spent a total of 3 hours in search of Floyd thus far. The cherished bearded dragon has not been known to be very fast or one to attempt escaping his nicely heated and food-stocked tank, but it appears he changed his mind after Dr. Bonner was left in charge of the science building animals during Mr. McHugh’s absence. It is currently suspected that Floyd went in search for food or a better caregiver, since Dr. Bonner was spotted feeding Floyd lettuce and spinach that he had been cooking under a heat lamp in his classroom, rather than Floyd’s primary diet of worms. As for now, these theories are the best chance we have at finding sweet Floyd, and in the meantime, the Floyd Recovery Force is doing its best to locate the dearest school pet.
