Bring Your Pet to School

By Jack Cheney

That’s right, You read correctly! On Thursday April 1st, all students in the upper school of BGA are permitted to bring one of their pets to school for the day.

Specifics

  • Each student is permitted to bring one pet to school, whether that be a dog, cat, fish, lizard, or parrot
  • Complimentary treats and snacks will be provided for our furry friends, and there will be bird feeders outside of each academic building for those of us with a little Polly to take care of
  • Fish food stations will be outside every classroom
  • Advisory will take their pets outside with them and head to a certain area on campus to let their pets out, play, and do their business.
  • Mr. Millard will soon come by in one of the carts with a pooper scooper.

Rules

  • When in class, pets must be supervised and tended to so that they do not disrupt the classroom setting.
  • If your pet makes a mess, you as the owner are responsible for it, and will clean it up
  • If your parrot curses, they must make a formal apology to the class for their poor behavior, as will you, for teaching them such fowl language (heh, get it?)
  • Dogs will be given mandatory tummy rubs
  • Cats get required scratches behind the ears and must be called good kitties
  • Teachers must have a pet as well
  • People with felines must turn a portion of their backpacks into portable litter boxes
