Golf and Volleyball Update: Prepare for Postseason

By: Ella McLay

With the multitude of fall sports that are still ongoing, golf and volleyball have made their way toward the end of their seasons.

Golf recently competed in the district tournament and had a very successful turnout. The boys golf team placed first in the district, and the girls golf team placed second in the district. The boys won with a total score of 312, with a score of 76 from both Harry Brown and Eliot Brashear. Coach Meyer, assistant coach for the golf team, says “our guys knew exactly what we had to do today to advance and we accomplished that while winning our district. It wasn’t perfect but we got the job done. It will take a better effort with more focus on Monday to advance to the state but we certainly have the team to do it.” The girls golf team had a total score of 150 with two scores of 75. Both teams advanced to the region tournament on Monday at Riverbend Country Club!

Our BGA volleyball team continues to show their impressive talent while defending their 2021 state championship title. The state champion team has currently won every district game (12-0) and their overall record is 26-4. Isabelle Northam, BGA libero, made BGA volleyball history with 2,000 digs in her BGA career. Volleyball recently honored this year’s group of senior player: Cohen, Addison, Kyra, Mac, Gillian, Campbell, and Isabelle. In this senior night game, they defeated Webb Bell Buckle 3-0, and continued their streak of defeating district teams. Both teams have done so well, and we cannot wait to see what they do in the postseason!
