Meet the new Editors

Hi! I’m Sydney! I’ve been onThe Echo staff since freshman year, and I’m so excited to finally be your editor. I have a passion for journalism and plan to explore it in college. My main focus throughout my Echo career has been writing about everything from social justice to pop culture and happenings on campus. I’m ready to grow The Echo’s role on campus significantly this year, whether that be through increased social media presence or a more regular release schedule. 

Hello everyone! My name is Ella McLay and I am a junior at BGA. I have been a writer for The Echo since my freshman year. I decided to join the newspaper initially because I did well on my first writing piece in my freshman year English class. I thought to myself, “Hey, I can write!” Writing gives me something greater than a letter on a paper, it gives me purpose and has sparked my interest in becoming a journalist in the future. I have a lot of gratitude for this newspaper and what it has provided me, and I wanted to be a student leader for this club so that I could inspire others.
