Girls Basketball Wrap-Up

The girls basketball team ended their season on a heartbreaker in the district quarterfinals. As a member of the team, I can say firsthand that we were fully expecting to make it far in the postseason. We were especially expecting to beat Columbia Academy in the quarterfinals at home, just like we had done the week before. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met, but we were still proud of a good season in general. The team went into the playoffs with a 7-5 record in the district. We had an improved record compared to last year and made some notable achievements. Senior Lindsey Summarell joined the 1,000-point club this year and also won All-district. Senior Amaria Gillispie also won All-district! The girls ended the regular season as the 4th seed in the district, and after losing to the 5 seed in districts, the team ended their season 5th in the district. Not the outcome we wanted, but c’est la vie!
