Ever since the STEM and EL concentrations were announced (and now Global Studies), I have been waiting for a concentration that would truly hone the abilities of the BGA students. Then, I was given exclusive information about a new Concentration being rolled out in 2024. Even though I will sadly not be there to see it happen, it gives me great joy to announce Battle Ground Academy’s new concentration: Concentration Concentration.
Marketed as “Concentration Squared” and open to all grades, the Concentration Concentration has a five-step plan to improve the student’s capability in not only planning but also organization, structuring, and regulation. I know that must sound like it’s touching a lot of ground, but I have lots of hope for this Con Squared. Let’s review the steps.
- Concentration.
Free-time fans, listen up! If you decide to take this Concentration, your first semester will consist of a full study hall! Imagine already having a study hall period. Now you have two! Just like there are two Concentrations in Con Squared. How symbolic.
- Concentration.
AP fans, listen up! Do you want to boost your GPA to a 5.0 and definitely not still get rejected at Stanford? This step of Con2 offers AP Research and AP Seminar, which both are part of the College Board’s Capstone Diploma Program. Now you’ll really be attentive with studying for all of these AP opportunities.
- Concentration.
Step Three has been described as “a revolutionary experience that delves into the inner psyche of each individual.” The classes listed include “Meditation 101 (taught by Mr. Hayden),” “Study Hall (taught by Mr. Hayden),” and “Quantum Physics (taught by Mr. Hayden).”
- Concentration.
I mean, this one is self-explanatory.
And finally…
- Concentration.
The capstone project at the end will take all you have learned in the past two years. However, this is the one piece of information I was not given details for. Use your imagination.
I hope I was able to do the Concentration Concentration justice. Listen and concentrate for more news on the Concentration Concentration!
