What does it mean to be an American?
Being an American is believing in the idea of democracy on a day-to-day basis, regardless of one’s party affiliation. Having the opportunity to succeed through hard work and dedication, regardless of one’s background. Recognizing that our plurality is the backbone of American power and unity. Having pride in our country and uniting in the fight for its prosperity. Fulfilling your civic duty as a citizen to vote and participate in the betterment of the nation. Respecting your neighbors through a spirit of generosity.

What role should the government play in the daily lives of an American?

The government should play an important role in the daily lives of Americans. Providing aid when needed, protection from foreign actors, and a sense of security and stability that enables individuals to live their lives to the fullest. They should trust the free market’s ability to reward and recognize individuals’ contributions to the economy while also providing necessary welfare. The government should enforce laws on a local and national level, holding individuals accountable for their actions.
