In case some of you have not been able to attend any fall sports activities or you just are not a sports person in general, here is the quick debrief on what you should know. The boys golf team traveled to Sevierville where they participated in the State Championship. They have had a very successful season, especially in the postseason. The boys won District champs and Region champs in the recent weeks with Leo Froio leading the team with a score of 68! At the state tournament, the boys came out on top as State Champions after a neck and neck competition with FRA. The girls golf team also had a successful season placing third in the District tournament and in the Region tournament. Girls golf team member Jackie Henderson advanced to the State tournament after scoring a 70 in the Region tournament. She placed third overall at the State tournament!
Our girls soccer team is currently having a successful postseason. The girls won the region quarterfinals 3-0 against USN, and they advanced to the region semi-finals over Fall Break. They beat GCA in a crazy game that went to overtime and then into penalty kicks where Maddie Hill scored on her PK and beat the Lions 1-0. The girls also played in the Region final over break against NCS, and came out as Region Champs! Shoutout to Maddie Hill, Emery Hill, and Lola and Eliza Padula for being named All-District. Also shoutout Maddie, Emery, Lola, and Phoebe Lott for earning All-Region.
The football team is also having a good season with a record of 4-5, and they will be competing at Webb Bell Buckle October 20th and in their last home game this season October 27th against Goodpasture. The BGA cheer team has had an exciting season placing second in their division this summer at UCA gameday. They have made major strides as a team, and have done a great job cheering on the football team.
Both cross country teams have had exceptional seasons. The girls are possibly the best cross country team BGA has had in the last 25 years, especially after their exciting win at the Chickasaw Trails Invitational in Alabama where they won the Small Schools Division. Both teams competing at the Regional championships on October 24th, and finished 4th in the team results, just one spot out of qualifying. The girls were led by All-Region finishes from Kiera Pinto (7th) and Tibbie Cleveland (11th), both of whom qualified for the State Meet. On the boys side, Braden Millard and Grant Carr both earned All-Region recognition with top 10 finishes (6th & 9th, respectively) and will compete at State.
And for a special shout out to the volleyball team, they did not end up where they hoped they would, but they had a great season with many accomplishments. Senior Julianna Santiago won first team all-district and all-tournament team, and achieved 1,000 career digs against MTCS. Lauren Atkins, Jo Snyder, and Mallory Dobbs placed in the second team all district team! The girls placed third overall in their district! Thank you to the seniors Julianna and Taylor for your leadership of the team. Go Wildcats!
