Battle Ground Academy has just announced that an ice skating rink will replace the quad. The secretive project has been discussed for multiple months and was solidified this morning. With one figure skater in its student population (namely, me), this skating venue seemed like a natural fit. Construction will begin in October 2024, just in time for the cold Tennessee winter. Head of Upper School Mr. Montgomery says “It just makes sense. I’ve always said, ‘Why walk when you can skate?’ Plus, there’s less landscaping.” The Echo has heard reports that Mr. Hackett has been practicing his triple lutz and the science department has a synchronized dance routine that is not to be missed. The new ice skating rink hopes to provide a fun opportunity for students to be active, enjoy quality time with friends, and even cure boredom during a study hall. Rumors have been lurking about a new ice skating class taught by Mrs. Snider as a new way students can earn their wellness credit. I know, I’m just as excited as everybody else; however, Mr. Kesler has asked for everyone’s help to enjoy the new addition to BGA’s campus. Rental skates make the fun happen, so a donation of $5 to @bgaskatingrink on Venmo, from at least 500 people, would allow our skating dreams to come true!
