Each winter, the city of Franklin transforms in celebration of the holidays. With seasonal lights, events, and festivals abounding throughout the city, the month of December offers a myriad of choices to anyone searching for the holiday spirit. Check out the information on five of these notable Franklin holiday happenings, ranging from a themed season for the local downtown theatre to the city’s annual Christmas tree and menorah lightings.
- November 21 – December 31st

A mile-and-a-half car path of holiday light fixtures, the Franktown Festival of Lights is a drive-through exhibition celebrating the Christmas season with more than 200 synchronized lights. While the car accessible event will last all month, December 17 will see the last Walkin’ Wednesday, in which the experience opens to walkers and leashed dogs.

Each December, the Franklin Theatre transforms itself for the Christmas season, with daily holiday-themed showings including movies, performances, and orchestras. The area around the theatre is equally festive, as Main Street is decorated with wreaths and lights.
- December 5th forward

The Franklin Christmas Tree, located in the main square of historic downtown Franklin, is a yearly tradition. While the lighting event took place on December 5th, the tree will stand in the square for the rest of the holiday season, located beside the county courthouse and historic cannons.
- December 13th-14th, 2025

The annual Dickens of a Christmas celebration in Downtown Franklin takes place on Main Street. The beloved tradition will feature various characters, entertainment, and market stalls with a Charles Dickens- theme, including characters from A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist.
- December 21st, 2025

The Miracle of Light This year, the third annual Miracle of Light celebration will take place December 21st in the Factory at Franklin. Celebrating the 8th night of Hanukkah, the event will be speakeasy style and include a menorah lighting, food and drinks, speakers such as the City of Franklin Mayor, and crafts for kids. More information and registration are available on the Franklin Jewish Social webpage, and the event is open to all.
